Highlights

  • UNICEF provided medical supplies to health care facilities in 13 regions in October, supporting 530,876 people, for a total of 1,070,422 people accessing primary health care in UNICEF-supported facilities, and through mobile teams and home visits, so far in 2024.
  • Cash-for-winterization assistance was newly paid to 3,535 households living in frontline areas in October, supporting 11,679 people, including 4,995 children, for a total of 19,535 households with 64,415 people including 27,738 children reached this year. UNICEF is working with 19 municipalities on district heating projects; with 10 health facilities to install solid fuel and gas boiler houses; and with the Ministry of Education and Science to provide cash grants to 800 schools to meet their winter needs.
  • In October, UNICEF reached an additional 603,972 people (101,419 children) with WASH infrastructure-related interventions. Support was provided to 30 water utilities in 7 regions, including equipment and supplies to repair and improve water and sewage services and water treatment chemicals. This year, 5,092,424 people (855,122 children), have gained access to safe water and sanitation with UNICEF support.
  • World Mental Health Day on 10 October was commemorated by 49,820 children (24,163 girls) from 1,350 educational facilities who learned about mental self-care practices. UNICEF launched a website offering 365 simple ideas to help adults care for their own and their children's mental health. So far this year, UNICEF has supported 637,237 people with mental health and psychosocial support.
