In January 2026, UNHCR and its partners Right to Protection (R2P), NEEKA, and The Tenth of April (TTA), have conducted border monitoring at 30 crossing points between Ukraine and Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova since mid-March 2022. In January 2026, while departures from Ukraine continued to decrease, border monitoring data continued to confirm 2025 trends of departures related to the war’s impact on people’s access to energy.
