MedGlobal Empowers 45 Ukrainian Surgeons with Advanced Trauma Training to Strengthen Warzone Medical Response

Lviv, Ukraine — From May 29 to June 1, 2025, MedGlobal held a Trauma Training (Surgical Skills Lab) for 45 Ukrainian surgeons, providing critical hands-on instruction in managing complex war-related trauma. This lifesaving initiative is part of MedGlobal’s ongoing Resiliency Medical Missions (RMM), and was designed to strengthen healthcare capacity in conflict zones.

The training was conducted in close partnership with Ukrainian medical institutions and the Ministry of Health, and featured a distinguished international team of volunteer trauma surgeons from the United States, including Dr. Michael Samotowka, Dr.Hudson Berrey, Dr. Bruce Potenza, and Dr. John Paul Sherck. These experts brought decades of trauma surgery experience and a deep commitment to supporting Ukraine’s frontline healthcare workers.

“This program empowers Ukrainian doctors with skills that save lives daily under extreme conditions. It’s not just training, it’s medical solidarity in action,” said Dr. Zaher Sahloul, President of MedGlobal.

Participants trained on managing gunshot wounds, blast injuries, vascular trauma, and complex surgeries involving the chest and abdomen — skills essential for treating patients injured in active combat.
