Insecurity Insight identified 3385 incidents of violence against or obstruction of health care in 55 countries and territories between 01 January and 11 December 2024. In these incidents, 896 health workers were killed, 751 injured and 151 kidnapped. Health facilities were damaged 904 times. Nearly half of the reported incidents involved the use of explosive weapons by state forces. During the reporting period, incidents increased in Ethiopia, Lebanon, Mexico, the oPt and Pakistan, compared to previous years. Cases continued to be recorded in Haiti, Myanmar, Sudan and Ukraine.
