By the end of August 2024, Uganda was hosting 1,741,331 refugees and asylum seekers. New arrivals continued to enter the country from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Sudan and South Sudan.

Since the beginning of the year, Uganda has received 97,699 refugees mainly from Sudan (35,526), DRC (25,302) South Sudan (18,389), and others (18,482). This continuous influx of new arrivals has led to overcrowding at some of the collection and transit facilities with 5,411 individuals in the transit centers and collection points (3,059 in West Nile and 2,352 in the South and Mid-West) waiting relocation at the end of August.
