Overview
Sector’s Strategic Vision/Direction:
The GBV sector aims to transform attitudes and behaviors regarding gender roles and violence, ensuring timely, survivor-centered support for those at risk. By 2025, the goal is to establish a robust national GBV system that prevents and responds to all forms of gender-based violence, especially within refugee communities.
Trends, Policies, and Developments Shaping the Sector:
Guided by the UGBV Strategy 2021-2025, the GBV sector focuses on four objectives: preventing GBV by addressing root causes through targeted interventions; building a specialized, accessible response and case management system for survivors; enhancing partnerships and coordination for better protection and support services; and providing durable solutions for forcibly displaced and stateless individuals affected by GBV. The sector will also intensify efforts against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), which remains prevalent in certain communities, particularly among refugees from the Horn of Africa. With the influx of Sudanese refugees due to the ongoing crisis, the sector plans to integrate FGM prevention into broader GBV programming. The 2024 GBV resource requirement for the sector was $25 million in 2024, with 24% ($6,017,344) received as of September 2024.
