Observations for February 2025

• In February, fires and severe storms were reported in the districts of Adjumani, Madi-Okollo, Bundibugyo, Kasese, and Bukomansimbi. The wildfires noted were linked to the drought and dry conditions prevalent across the country.

• During this period, hazards impacted over 1,034 individuals (210 households), with 560 people from 156 households being displaced internally.

• Children below the age of 18 were the most affected, comprising 68%, followed by adults aged between 18 to 64 at 29%, and seniors over 64 at 3%. Additionally, females constituted more than half of those affected, at 59%.

• As a result of the hazards, urgent needs have arisen, with health, hygiene promotion and shelter identified as critical priorities following the hazards.

• There was significant infrastructure damage occurred, including the complete destruction of 111 houses, and 25 houses partially damaged.
