Status of Measles outbreak in the refugee settlements

Outbreaks have been experienced in Nakivale, Oruchinga, Kiryandongo, Rwamwanja, Kyaka II and Kyangwali refugee settlements.

Kyangwali has so far registered 29 cases of measles of which 48% are refugees and 52% host population, 55% male and 45% female and 90% are above 9 months of age, 7% between 6 to 9 months of age and 3% below 6 months.

Rwamwanja registered a total of 189 cases so far of which 53% are male and 47% female, 56% refugees and 44% host population and 74% of the cases were above 9 months of age, 20% between 6 to 9 months and 6% were below 6 months of age

Kyaka has so far registered 48 cases of suspected measles of which 77% are refugees and 23% are the host population, 44% are male and 56% female and 96% of the cases are above 9 months of age and 4% are between 6 to 9 months of age. No cases for below 6 months registered so far

Kiryandongo registered 61 cases so far of which 60% are male and 40% Female, 50% refugees and 50% nationals and 73% of the affected population are adults above 9 months of age, 24% are between 6 to 9 months and 3% are less than 6 months of age.

No death has been registered in the refugee settlements due to Measles ever since the outbreak in January 2018
