SITUATIONAL OVERVIEW

The overall status of the district is in Alert mainly because of Crop and livestock sectors that needs an intervention since the district is food insecure though land opening is on-going and animal diseases especially Tick born and Trypanosomiasis are very rampant causing a serious threat in the general livelihood of the community. This situation covers both pastoral and agro-pastoral livelihood zones. However, water and livelihood sectors revealed normal situation, though sorghum prices are particularly high. The drought risk is low since the information from the weather outlook revealed that, the district will experience dry spell till the end of February 2013 only.
