The death toll from the devastating earthquakes on 6 February has increased to 50,096 people and around 2.7 million people remain internally displaced in Türkiye. An estimated 2.3 million people have been identified as living in formal and informal settlements across earthquake affected areas of which 1.7 million have been identified to be living in informal settlements.

1,915 unaccompanied children have been identified of whom 1,750 have been reunified with their families.ii Shelter, water sanitation facilities, healthcare, protection (including mental health and psychosocial support) and continuity of learning remain priority needs.

The Ministry of National Education (MoNE) has resumed education in six out of 10 earthquake affected provinces (Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa and Kilis on 1 March, Adana, Gaziantep, Osmaniye on 13 March); and a total of 1,495,648 students have begun to resume their education in these provinces. 1 Also, 252,000 students have moved with their families to non-affected provinces and have enrolled in Turkish Public schools in Ankara, Antalya, Mersin and Istanbul.

As of 22 March, UNICEF has reached 391,420 people, including 222,560 children, with critical hygiene supplies, and 21,983 people with non-food items, including blankets and heaters.

131,113 children and caregivers have received mental health and psychosocial support and 20,660 people have accessed safe spaces for multisectoral support.

As of 24 March, UNICEF has a funding gap of over US$ 138 million (71%) against the funding requirement of US$ 196 million to reach 3 million people, including 1.5 million children.
