The violent earthquake and thousands of aftershocks that struck Türkiye (Turkey) on February 6, 2023, have devastated families in the region. According to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and recent UN Flash Appeal, more than 9.1 million people have been affected in 11 provinces in Türkiye and more than 47,000 buildings have been destroyed or damaged.
CORUS INTERNATIONAL RESPONSE Corus has committed an initial $300,000 to respond to this disaster, and we will expand operations to reach more earthquake survivors as we secure additional funding. We have deployed members of our Humanitarian Action team to Türkiye to support response operations. We are bringing together expertise, resources and support from Corus organizations IMA World Health, Lutheran World Relief and CGA Technologies.
We are coordinating with local organizations, UN agencies and other international humanitarian organizations to ensure aid is delivered effectively, without duplication, and meeting most urgent needs.
