Community-Based Migration Programs Coordinatorship and Community Centers
As a result of political crisis and conflict beginning in Syria on March 15, 2011, millions of people were displaced and became in need of humanitarian aid. Türkiye has been hosting approximately millions of migrants and refugees with this migration crisis. Within the framework of the cooperation signed between the Turkish Red Crescent and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in May 2013, Child-Friendly Spaces were established within the Syria Emergency Response to provide services to migrants in Temporary Accommodation Centers. To further strengthen the response to the migration crisis, TRCS established its first Community Center in Şanlıurfa in 2015 in line with the needs of migrants living outside temporary accommodation centers and the local communities they live with. The first Mobile Child-Friendly Space, which can change its location according to the needs of the target group, started its activities in Şanlıurfa in 2015.
The main objective of the Community-Based Migration Programs Coordinatorship (CBMPC) is to ensure that all vulnerable communities and beneficiaries have access to fundamental rights and to provide services to develop social resilience and a culture of coexistence by strengthening psychological, social, economic, and physical wellbeing and increasing access to education. The Community-Based Approach which gives its name to the Coordinatorship integrates the power of the community with the support of national and international stakeholders and transforms it into social services. This service model produced and developed by Türk Kızılay has become an exemplary and preferred model in the humanitarian aid sector. Within the framework of this model; Protection Program, Socioeconomic Empowerment Program, Child Programs,Integrated Programs, and Health and Psychosocial Support Program continue their activities.
