About the Earthquake in Kahramanmaraş - 10 (As of 12.10)

An earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale took place in Pazarcık, Kahramanmaraş at 04.17 hours on February 6, 2023.

. A total of 312 earthquakes occurred including a 7.6-magnitude earthquake that hit Elbistan.

According to initially available information from SAKOM, 3,432 people have lost their lives and 21,103 individuals have been injured in Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay, Kilis and Malatya.

25,693 search and rescue workers, 360 vehicles and 3,361 (with 629 crane) pieces of construction equipment have been deployed to the affected area. A total of 2,769 teams from 65 countries have contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to offer assistance.

30 governors and 47 district governors have been assigned to disaster areas.

The Air and Land Forces, the Gendarmerie and the Coast Guard has planned the deployment of staff members from Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir with 54 aircrafts which were flewed 154 sorties.

A total of 10 ships, 9 ships by the Naval Forces, and 1 ship by the Coast Guard Command were employed to deliver personnel and materials to the affected area. In addition, the TCG İskenderun ship was sent to İskenderun İsdemir Port. The injured citizens started to be evacuated.

A total of 350.000.000 TL was sent to 9 provinces in the disaster area, 250.000.000 TL from the Ministry of Family and Social Services and 100,0000.000 TL from Disaster Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) as emergency fund.

Disaster Correspondence Group

118 Mobile base stations (18 of them were activated) and 1,688 generators (701 of them were activated) and 8 vessels for emergency correspondence with 508 staff are deployed to the earthquake zones. To be able to carry out emergency correspondence with the citizens in the disaster zones GSM operators activated the phone lines that are blocked due to unpaid debts. 80 vsat satellite terminals deployed to the disaster zones

Disaster Agriculture, Forest, Food and Livestock Group

The teams established within the scope of the Türkiye Disaster Response Plan within Provincial Directorates are deployed to the earthquake zones. Construction equipment and operators that belong to the Directorate General of State Hydraulic Works and Directorate General of Forestry deployed to the earthquake zones. The teams of Ankara and Konya provincial directorates are deployed to the earthquake zones.

Disaster Sheltering Group

A total of 300,000 blankets 54,511 medical tents, 102,254 beds, 178,732 pillows and sheets, 4,602 kitchen kits 3,761 heaters and 4,452 tube caps, 557 containers and 747 tents (112m2) were sent to the affected areas.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports hosted 48,416 people in dormitories. 34,084 beds are still available for citizens.

Disaster Nourishment Group

The Turkish Red Crescent sent 79 catering vehicles, 16 mobile kitchens, 1 mobile food bank, 5 field kitchens, 2 mobile ovens, 86 vehicles. 2 mobile kitchens and 1 mobile oven were sent by the Gendarmerie, Humanitarian Relief Foundation and foundations of Hayrat, Beşir and İnsiyatif have sent one mobile kitchens each.

259,764 units of soup, 27,956 liters of water, 4,250 pieces of bread, 4,450 doner sandwiches, 371,333 treats and 16,700 bags of tea were distributed to the affected areas.

Disaster Psychosocial Support Group

4 mobilized Social Service Centers are charged in Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Osmaniye, and Malatya provinces. 1,366 officers and 106 vehicles are sent to the region.

Disaster Transportation Infrastructure Group

Airway

Malatya, Adana, Diyarbakır, Adıyaman Airports are open to air traffic.

Gaziantep and Şanlıurfa Airports are open to flights carrying aid.

Kahramanmaraş and Hatay airports are closed to air traffic due to the damage.

Railway

Ulukışla-Adana, Adana-Mersin, Adana-Toprakkale, Yolçatı-Diyarbakır, Yolçatı

Elazig, Elazig-Tatvan railway lines are open to traffic.

Malatya-Çetinkaya, Malatya-Yolçatı railway lines are open for traffic in case of emergency.

Fevzipaşa-Narlı, Narlı-Gaziantep, Narlı-Malatya lines are closed to traffic.

Highway

Adıyaman-Çelikhan road route is closed to traffic.

Balıkburnu Bridge at Adıyaman- Çelikhan-Sürgü route was demolished.

Şanlıurfa-Gaziantep road is open to traffic.

The Osmaniye-Gaziantep direction is completely closed to traffic.

The Hatay-Reyhanlı public road is completely closed to traffic.

Hatay Kırıkhan-Topboğaz road is closed to traffic.

Adıyaman Gölbaşı- Malatya route is closed to traffic due to landslide.

Disaster Communication Group

Coordination between government officials is ensured and information flow is provided to the public. To empower the unity of messages, official statements and social media shares are coordinated.

Necessary warnings to follow the official statements are issued by the authorities in order to fight disinformation. CIMER (Communications Center of the Presidency) Emergency Earthquake Center is activated and the applications are shared with the respective institutions. A press center is also established in Gaziantep AFAD Center.

National and international media are informed about the situation.
