DISASTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PRESIDENCY
NUMBER OF DEAD DISASTER VICTIMS : 601 (as of 08.30 A.M.)
Due to the building damaged in affected area, 1.161.290, 00 USD Emergency Aid Allowance for General Directorate of Security and 1.075.268, 00 USD for Ministry of Public Education have been sent.
Hereby to the Government of Van, totally 9.139.784, 00 USD Emergency Aid Allowance has been sent to be spent for urgent needs.
In accordance with the request of our benevolent Citizens and with the direction of our Prime Minister H.E. Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, an aid campaign has been launched and included 50. 000. 000 USD donated by Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a total of 67.204301, 00 USD has been collected through aid campaign.
Search and rescue, medical and first aid personnel from 48 different provinces and 39 different institutions has been delivered to the region by air and land with 42 Turkish Airlines, 44 military and 18 special cargo airplanes and vehicles. Moreover, search – rescue teams, equipments and other personnel have been dispatched by 154 scheduled flights of Turkish Airlines.
In order to address tents and blankets needs, shipment has being continued by 9 Civil and 3 military aircrafts. Also, the conveyance by land has been continuing.
To construct permanent houses, TOKİ has been given instruction and as soon as possible houses shall be supplied for disaster victims. So as to temporary sheltering, manufacturing of containers has been started and it is supposed that they shall be set up in affected area. In the meanwhile, dispatching of containers made a tender by TOKİ has been started as of October 31, 2011.
In addition to this, for the maintenance of 260 units of containers in Batman, 600.000 TL (322.580,00 Dollars) allowance has been transferred to Batman Governorship. When the maintenance of containers in Batman and manufacturing of containers in Kocaeli finish, they have been delivered to disaster area as of November 3, 2011.
In total 4.448 search-rescue personnel, 1.814 medical personnel, 18 search dogs, 668 units of rescue machinery, 179 ambulances (7 of them air ambulances), 11 mobile hospitals (6 of them in service), 146 generators, 79 reflectors, 151 wc-shower bath containers, 52.293 tents ( 17.194 of them are from abroad), 109 general purpose tents, 60 prefabricated houses, 15 house containers, 2.310 Mevlana houses (a type of prefabricated house), 218.470 blankets (38.850 of them are abroad), 1.264 duvets, 37 mobile kitchens, 3.051 kitchen sets, 8.480 catalytic stoves / heaters (551 of them are abroad), 5.792 sleeping bags, 1536 folding beds and 1 mobile oven have been deployed to the region affected.
For the reception of international assistance coming by air, Erzurum is determined to be logistics center and Erzurum Governorship is assigned to establish this center and transfer the aids to Van. In the case of exceeding capacity of Erzurum Airports determined as points of entry by our Presidency, it is planned that the Military Airport shall be alternative.
Within the context of international assistance, below aid-in-kind has been delivered to our country:

On the scope of international humanitarian aids received by Turkish Red Crescent;

For the reception of international assistance coming by land, Logistics Reception Center has been established by Van Governorship.
The hot meals three times a day to the affected population has being distributed and delivery of food, food package and other consumption goods has been continuing.
In order to carry out public services and support disaster victims psychosocially, 30 units of field tent have deployed.
All public institutions send additional personnel to Van for the services not to be interrupted.
Until the next notice, all disaster and emergency centers of related ministries will be working according to 7 days 24 hours working principle in order to be able to carry out search-rescue, temporary sheltering, debris removal, medical and psychosocial support uninterruptedly.
In order to provide psychosocial and social support services, qualified and sufficient personnel are assigned under Van Governorship’s order.
The operations were completed in Van Central district but the operations have being continued with 100 personnel for 3 Citizens informed to be lost.
The preliminary damage assessment works have been completed with 20 technical personnel of our presidency and 200 technical personnel assigned by other provinces.
In total 2.337 aftershock earthquakes have occurred, magnitude of 1.052 of them is between 2 and 3, magnitude of 1.008 of them is between 3 and 4, magnitude of 115 of them is between 4 and 5, magnitude of 7 of them is between 5 and 6. It is strictly required not to enter to damaged buildings.
