An earthquake of magnitude 5 M and depth 12 km occurred in Canakkale province in north-eastern Turkey, on 6 February at 3.51 UTC. The epicentre was located 2 km south-west of the village of Gulpinar (Ayvcik district). Several aftershocks have been recorded in the area.

Local media reported, as of 7 February at 7.00 UTC, that four people have been injured in the villages of Ykarikoy (Canakkale province) and over 90 houses damaged in the villages of Tasagil, Tuzla, Yukari, Çam and Gülpinar (Canakkale province).
