  • Secretariat of the Japan Disaster Relief Team

The following is a report on the activities of the JDR Medical Team in Turkey

The team arrived in Istanbul on November 16 and immediately traveled to Adapazari, where it took up residence in a city hotel. On the morning of the 17th the team completed construction of a clinic in Central Park within the city of Duzce (the site of the clinic was determined by the JDR Advance Team). The team began treating patients at 1:00 pm. Despite only working in the afternoon during the first day, the team treated 78 patients in only three hours. The team is scheduled to continue operations in the same park from the 18th. Following a request made by the team to the Duzce Emergency Relief Headquarters, it has been decided that two police officers will be stationed at the site during nighttime hours.
