Trinidad and Tobago – Flooding (DG ECHO, Authorities, Partners) (ECHO Daily Flash of 23 October 2018)

  • An Orange level alert is still in effect on 23 October with risks of flash floods and landslides. The Riverine Flood Alert #2 – Red level is still in effect until Friday 26 October.

  • 22 schools are reportedly affected and remain closed. It is estimated that 35 000 households are affected (150 000 people). 800 people have been evacuated and 300 are currently in 10 shelters.

  • The Red Cross is also responding to the event through shelter, ambulance and psychosocial support and will conduct an in-depth assessment on 23 October. 30 volunteers have been mobilised.

  • The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) continues to coordinate the distribution of relief across. There has been no request for external assistance thus far.
