Employees of the Ministry of Education at the Ministry’s Head Office, St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain have demonstrated tremendous kindness and support for their colleagues who suffered losses due to flooding during the weekend of October 20th, 2018.
The MOE staff contributed approximately twenty five (25) flood relief hampers which were distributed by the Honourable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education and Permanent Secretary, Lenor Baptiste-Simmons in a simple ceremony on Monday 12th November, 2018.
The Ministry launched a flood relief appeal at its Head Office during the period October 22nd to November 2nd, 2018, asking members of staff for contributions. The items collected included toiletries, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food items, bottled water, clothing and footwear, among other items.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony, Permanent Secretary, Lenor Baptiste-Simmons commended the MOE staff for lending a helping hand to their colleagues in a time of distress and thanked them for their generous response to the flood relief drive.
The Honourable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education said he was happy to see such an overwhelming outpouring of love and care from the MOE staff for their colleagues who were negatively affected by the floods. He thanked all staff for their contributions towards the relief effort.
The flood affected MOE staff expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education for organising the flood drive and to their colleagues for their contributions.
