Executive Summary: 2023 R4V Joint Participatory Assessment - Trinidad and Tobago

Background and Objectives

The 2023 R4V Joint Participatory Assessment focused on refugees and migrants in Trinidad and Tobago, primarily Venezuelans, aimed to improve understanding of the multifaceted needs, challenges, and aspirations of this diverse community. Through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), this qualitative study sought to provide a nuanced understanding that complements existing data, helping to guide support mechanisms and policy formulations for R4V partners.

Participant Demographics

This comprehensive assessment involved 236 participants encompassing a broad demographic spectrum, including individuals from Venezuela, Cuba, India, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, as well as the indigenous Warao people from Venezuela. The participants, ranging in age from 11 to 83 years, contributed to a rich diversity of perspectives through 24 FGDs and 17 KIIs.
