Highlights
• As a co-lead of the Regional Pacific Food Security Cluster, WFP co-organized the Pacific Regional Food Security Cluster information management workshop in Nadi, Fiji. The workshop aimed to strengthen data and information management to enable timely food security response in the event of shocks. Relevant technical staff from Ministries of Agriculture across the Pacific region participated in the activity.
• WFP partnered with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to implement a Joint Programme entitled Catalyzing the Samoa National Food Systems Transformation Agenda Through Collective Action, which aims to shift Samoa towards sustainable consumption patterns. WFP will undertake a Cost of Healthy Diet (CoHD) analysis to promote inter-sectoral approaches that address availability and accessibility of healthy foods.
Operational Updates Supply Chain
• The WFP-led Pacific Logistics Cluster and the Solomon Islands National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) published a brief customs clearance guidance note on transporting relief items into the country to support a more efficient and streamlined emergency response. It guides humanitarian partners and actors on the requirements and procedures to facilitate customs clearance during a declared emergency in the Solomon Islands, aiming to enhance the timeliness of disaster response.
• WFP co-facilitated the Logistics Response Team Training organized by the Global Logistics Cluster in Sri Lanka. The six-day simulation workshop gave participants a realistic emergency experience through working in field-like conditions, aiming to increase the efficiency of logistics response in humanitarian emergency settings. Two staff from the Vanuatu NDMO participated in the training.
