This is Notice No.17 to the public on the volcanic activities at Tofua Volcano, issued at 6:30am this morming 14th May 2024.

The latest update reveals a rise, with 6 out of 4 events documented in the past 24 hours, as depicted in Figure 1. The most recent event occurred at 02:56 AM local time today, May 14th, 2024

The recent monitoring data as seen by the satellite indicates a series of low thermal anomalies at Tofua Voicano.

There was no volcanic ash cloud detected in the last 24 hours, based on satellite images.

All Mariners are advised to sail beyond 1.08 nautical miles from Tofua Volcano until further notice. A preliminary Volcanic Hazard Map in Figure 2 is attached. This indicates the restricted zone for the Tofua Voicano. The public is hereby advised to adhere to these restrictions for safety purposes.

The volcano activity poses low risk to the Vava'u and Ha’apai Communities.

Tofua is located 76.1 km west of Pangai, Ha’apai at Latitude & Longitude 19.75°S, 175.07°W.

Monitoring of the eruption is ongoing with daily notices issued on the status of the eruption.
