Operational Updates

• The October 2024 Cadre Harmonisé analysis indicates that 621,723 people face severe acute food insecurity (IPC 3+). Projections for June–August 2025 suggest that 624,560 people may experience emergency levels of acute food insecurity if no assistance is provided.

• The northernmost Savanes region is the worst affected by emergency levels of acute food insecurity. Between October and December 2024, 175,063 people face a crisis and emergency levels acute food insecurity (IPC 3+), representing 14.3 percent of the total population of the region with 225,129 people projected to reach these levels by June–August 2025.

• The spillover of the Sahel conflict has caused an influx of refugees into Northern Togo and has internally displaced thousands of people. Overall, 39,436 refugees and asylum seekers and 10,171 IDPs have been identified and/or registered by the Government and UNHCR as of October 2024.

Emergency Food and Nutrition Assistance

• In December, WFP launched a e-voucher pilot, reaching 10,676 vulnerable people, following the governmental restrictions on cash-in-hand for humanitarian assistance.
Each household received an e-voucher worth XOF 40,000, as per the Minimum Expenditure Basket (MEB) calculation for Togo. The success of this activity resulted in WFP’s improved capacity to provide efficient and timely assistance to beneficiaries while supporting the local markets and empowering beneficiaries to improve dietary diversity, ensure dignity and flexibility and reducing logistical costs.
