Operational Updates
- According to the March 2024 Cadre Harmonisé projections for June-August 2024, 423,165 people are experiencing crisis levels of acute food insecurity (IPC 3+) (CH). The Savanes Region is the most affected region, with 32 percent of the population lacking regular access to safe and nutritious food.
- The spillover of the Sahel conflict caused an influx of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). Overall, 37,917 refugees (mainly from Burkina Faso) and 32,000 IDPs were registered by the Government and UNHCR this year. The number of refugees and asylum seekers combined is projected to be around 63,000 people.
- WFP Togo is appealing for US$ 12.5 million under the UN Joint Response Plan, to reach an additional 190,000 beneficiaries with emergency assistance and resilience building.
- In 2024, WFP plans to assist 150,000 people in the northern region with food distributions in August, September, and October which correspond to the peak lean season, and targets 40,000 vulnerable beneficiaries with "food for assets" activities.
