Brief on WFP's Response to the Crisis in East Timor

WFP is facilitating the return of East Timorese now that security is beginning to return to troubled entity. WFP is also providing food rations to enable the displaced to concentrate fully on restoring their homes, farms and livelihoods.
Under the newly expanded operation -- which builds on an initial two-month distribution to 150,000 people - WFP is distributing food rations to 413,000 East Timorese at a cost of US$21.6 million

Most of the beneficiaries are almost totally dependent on food aid and in need of full daily ration that meets their nutritional requirements.
