ACT Appeal Indonesia - Timor Crisis: Assistance to E Timor Refugees & Displaced ASID92 (Revision 1)

Appeal Target: US$ 1,289,118
Geneva, 21 December 1999

Dear Colleagues,

On 26 October 1999, ACT Appeal ASID92 - Assistance to E Timor Refugees & Displaced was issued in response to the massive influx of refugees into West Timor and other parts of Indonesia following the referendum on independence for E Timor. Some of those refugees are people who, some years before, encouraged by the Indonesian authorities, migrated to E Timor. They now find themselves in the situation of having to return to their original home areas, but with no home and nothing with which to restart their lives.

The following proposal is from ACT member Greja Kristen Jawi Wetan (GKJW) who are assisting 100 such families who have returned to their original village/homes in Java.

For the sake of brevity the facts pertaining to the original appeal will not be repeated here.

Please kindly send your contributions to the ACT bank account.
