BANGKOK, 3 February 2012 (NNT) - The Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry is prepared to propose to the Cabinet a budget for the rehabilitation of water sources and irrigation systems affected by floods in the South.
Permanent Secretary for Agriculture and Cooperatives Supatra Thanaseniwat has revealed that a sub-committee on water sources and irrigation rehabilitation has approved a project aimed at restoreing water sources and irrigation systems hit by the flood.
According to her, the Royal Irrigation Department (RID) and the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning have proposed to the cabinet a 500-million baht budget for the repairs of office buildings, canals, water control stations, irrigation systems, as well as river banks protection systems.
The two departments are scrutinizing the project and making sure that the project does not overlap with other agencies’ projects.
