Tropical storm wrecks Phetchabun, Kalasin, Lampang

PHETCHABUN, 25th April 2017, (NNT) - A tropical storm has damaged more than a thousand homes in several districts of Phetchabun and Kalasin provinces. Officials have already been dispatched to provide assistance.

According to a survey, a total of 1,107 houses in Lom Sak district of Phetchabun were affected by the storm. The province is planning to declare eleven sub-districts disaster zones, in order to seek a budget for rehabilitation. Officials from the Provincial Administrative Organization have already visited the victims and distributed financial aid and survival kits. They also helped the people clean up their community and restored their homes.

In Kalasin, the storm completely wrecked 10 homes, damaged another 200 and took out electricity in Tha Khantho district. Local residents claimed that Monday's storm was the worst they'd experienced in 50 years. Kalasin Provincial Administrative Organization has already started the recovery process.

Meanwhile in Lampang, military and other officials have been dispatched to examine Ban Ueam sub-district of the capital district where the storm had touched down. Initially, local officials distributed roof shingles to the victims, in order to help them start fixing their houses. Officials are assessing the damage in detail to offer better assistance measures.
