Thailand: Yala preparing for flooding and landslide

The Yala Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) is preparing for flooding and landslide as heavy rain is expected in the province during these 1-2 days.

Chief Executive of the Yala PAO Muktar Matha revealed that the organization has distributed boats to local administrative organizations in disaster-prone areas in the province including the districts of Raman and Mueang. The PAO has also prepared supplies to be distributed to people affected by flooding and landslide and the Office of Yala Rural Roads has sent workers and heavy equipment to landslide-prone areas, Mr Muktar said.

Flash flood-prone areas in Yala province include the two sides of Sai Buri River in Raman district and Pattani River in Bannang Sata, Krong Pinang, and Nakhon Yala Municipality. Landslide-prone areas can be found in the 410 Yala-Betong route in Bannang Sata, Than To, and Betong districts.
