  • According to local media the death toll due to the heavy rain that has been affecting the southern areas of the country over the past month continues to raise. At least 63 deaths have been reported, of which 26 in Nakhon Sri thammarat, 15 in Surat Thani, two in Yala, 12 in Phatthalung and eight in Songkhla, as of 24 January at 7.00 UTC. They also reported that over 65 000 people have been evacuated across the southern provinces of the country.

  • Over the next 24 heavy to locally heavy rain is forecast to affect the southern parts of Thailand, including the ones already affected. According to Thailand Meteorological Department, a watch for flash floods and mudslides is in effect for the provinces of Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat, as of 24 January at 8.30 UTC.
