Thailand: Pattani locals urged to be cautious of flood-related diseases

Pattani public health office urges locals to be aware of health-related issues during the inundation, while mobile assistance team has already been dispatched to provide medical care to affected residents.

Dr. Yorn Jiranakorn, a general practitioner of Pattani public health office stated that Pattani has been suffering from continual heavy rainfalls and inundation in numerous areas, which can potentially lead to flood-related diseases. Therefore, he decided to urge locals to be extra cautious by not standing in inundated water for a long period of time, and if necessary, they were advised to immediately wash their body parts that came in contact with flood water. If they contracted athlete foot disease, they should apply medication right away and seek medical help if the conditions got worsened.

Furthermore, the office incorporation with hospitals and other public health offices in the province have jointly set up a hotline number 1669, which would be in service 24 hours daily for residents in need of urgent medical attention or other assistances.
