After heavy rains in southern Yala province, the Disasters' Prevention Special Command Centre in Yala has issued warnings to the people in the area to be cautious of potential hazards and flash floods after over 3,000 local families being affected.
The centre also reported today (December 8) on the circumstances of the situation. They found that between December 1 and 7, two districts, 19 sub-districts, 71 villages, 52,591 rais of agriculture land, 45 houses, and two schools were damaged by the heavy rains. Also 3,160 people were affected by the rains. The estimated damages were worth 3,864,250 baht.
The centre was giving aid to victims by distributing approximately 4,646 consumable goods to 3,160 families. There were also 1,834 medical treatment items handed out. The centre also stated the weather in Yala was still cloudy with scattered thunderous rains covering around 70 per cent of the province. People in the area were being warned to be alert for the rains during the next two days.
