Fighting between Myanmar army and ethnic armed organisation, Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) intensified in Myanmar’s Myawaddy province on 5 April. Approximately 4,000-8,000 refugees, including about 800 children, have been displaced to Mae Sot and Mae Ramat districts of Tak province of Thailand.

According to media, around 5,428 people have fled to Thailand’s temporary shelters across 10 areas in Tak province on 6 April and many are waiting to cross to Thailand via the Moei river. People are without drinking water and toilets.

Authorities and volunteers provided food, drinking water, and medicine to refugees. In addition, fighting has reportedly continued, prompting the evacuation of local people.
