Thailand - Landslides and floods (media, TMD) (ECHO Daily Flash of 26 August 2024)

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting Thailand since 16 August, causing floods and landslides that resulted in casualties and damage.
  • According to media, as of 26 August, at least 22 people died, including 13 people due to a landslide in Phuket island, where 20 people have also been injured, 20 have been sheltered and 209 houses have been affected. In addition, at least 30,000 people have been affected by floods across five provinces, including Chiang Rai, Sukhothai and Prae in northern Thailand.
  • On 26-27 August, more rainfall is expected over the whole country.
