Northeastern rice farmers in the Chor Paga sub-district, Chamni district, Buri Ram province, have been rushing to reap their rice fields since flood waters have reached up to one metre high, urging the Government to urgently help tackling the problem.
They said today (November 10) that if they fail to reap the rice, it could become putrid if left in the water too long. Even if the farmers tried to bask the rice in the sun, it would still be spoiled. They added that over 1,000 rais of rice fields in the area have been flooded.
Currently rice mills were refusing to accept the rice which has been soaked in the flood waters. This has caused problems for farmers. They asked the government for urgent help.
