Thailand: Floods affect over 200 households at Doi Suthep

Continuous heavy rains during the past two days in the northern Chaing Mai's Doi Suthep region has resulted in flooding that has chased many residents from their homes.

Five villages in Nong Kwai, Hang Dong and Baan Wan sub-districts of Chiang Mai's Hang Dong district have been flooded.

The waters have sent residents fleeing. Sand bags have had to be lined up to deter inundation from local houses. Floods in Baan Wan has exceeded 60 centimetres, trapping many of the residents' personal belongings.

Hang Dong district chief Mr. Surapol Satyarak traveled to inspect the damages to the areas. He stated that rains were continuous and floods have affected over 200 households. He reminded local people to monitor the situation and be prepared to move their belongings to higher grounds.
