Thailand: Flooding in Mae Wang of Chiang Mai subsides

Flooding in three Tambon of Mae Wang district in Chiang Mai province has subsided.

District Chief of Mae Wang, Puthipong Sirimat revealed that after heavy rain caused forest water to flood residential areas in Tambon Ruang Thong, Tung Phi and Mae Win two days ago, over 100 households were found to be completely inundated. The overflowing Mae Wang River flooded both residential areas and fields of the district. Nonetheless, latest reports reveal that the situation has begun to alleviate.

The district administration is now surveying damage and planning assistance for the affected people. The administration will distribute seeds to farmers and compensate them according to the damages they received.
