Forest water has rushed into many areas of Mae Sot district of Tak province after yesterday's heavy rains, closing many roads and prompting the evacuation of Mae Sot Police Station's holding cell.

Hours of heavy rain last night resulted in flood waters from surrounding forests flowing into Mae Sot district this morning. Water levels in residential areas of the Mae Sot Municipality have been measured above 50 centimeters and have cut off several roads. The Mae Sot police station, which is located on the shore of Huay Haeng () waterway was forced to evacuate detainees from its holding cell due to rising water. Surrounding districts have reported flood levels exceeding one meter with Baan Hua Fai Reservoir spilling over 80 centimeters high flooding.

Deputy Mayor of Mae Sot Kan Kanthanin has led authorities out to build sandbag walls and aid affected citizens. Warnings are still abound as rains continue.
