Thailand: Flood conditions in Mae Sot widely damage paddy fields

Many villages in Tambon Phrathat Phadaeng and Tambon Mae Ku have been affected by flooding caused by heavy rain. Some areas have been submerged by over one meter deep water. Ten residents who were stuck in their houses have been rescued.

A primary damage assessment shows that paddy fields in Tambon Phrathat Phadaeng have been flooded. Owners of the paddies are encouraged to report the damage to local administrative organizations in their area in order to receive assistance. Apart from the paddy fields, the flood has hit the city area of Mae Sot, prompting many vendors to build sandbag walls in front of their shops.

Tak Governor Khomsan Ekkachai issued a warning to residents in low-lying areas, foothills, and along riverbanks to prepare themselves for the flood and to be on the alert to it as more rain is expected in the province. The governor also instructed relevant units to expedite aid for the flood-affected.
