Thailand: Flood condition in Nakhon Si Thammarat still critical

Flooding in Nakhon Si Thammarat is still critical as waters from mountains are flowing down to rivers and canals in the province.

Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Phanu Uthairat called an urgent meeting between relevant government units to assess the situation and adjust plans on flood prevention and mitigation. 11 districts and more than 70,000 people have been affected by inundation in the province so far. The cost of damage was estimated at more than 28 million baht.

The Meteorological Department reports that heavy rain is expected in the eastern part of the Southern region including some areas of Nakhon Si Thammarat. Flash flood may occur there and the Gulf of Thailand will have wave of 2-3 meters high from November 12th-14th.

The province has distributed 35 boats to evacuate people from the flood affected areas and installed six feed pumps. At the same time, the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation has handed out royally donated supplies to the flood hit villagers in the province.
