Almost five years since the tsunami disaster, the Red Cross Red Crescent has helped hundreds of thousands of survivors take significant steps along the road to recovery.
Bang Kang Kao primary school has 155 students and 10 teachers with grades K-6. Most families/students were affected by the tsunami. The American Red Cross provided water for the school and handwashing/hygiene education. The children go to school from May to September (first semester) and November to March (second semester) and learn Thai, English, art, science, math, physical education, social studies/history, life skills (sewing, gardening, etc.), and club activities (sports).
