Buri Ram province has reported that flooding in the province has resulted in emergency declarations from all of its 23 districts with over 150,000 rai or 375,000 acres of agricultural land damaged, 213 roads cut off and 205 fish ponds rendered useless. The report estimates that initial damage costs will exceed 100 million baht and also warns citizens of the possibility of a second round of flooding and storms.

Buri Ram province today (October, 2nd) issued a report detailing its situation after the recent period of flooding in all of its 23 districts. The report indicates that 1,720 villages were flooded causing hardship for over 43 thousand households or over 300,000 residents. The heaviest hit districts of the province were Nang Rong, Chamni and Lam Plai Mat. The province has ordered all district authorities to inspect damage to farms, fisheries and livestock populations so that a report may be compiled to dictate further aid strategies.

Buri Ram Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Officer Pornchet Saengthong has issued a warning to all citizens to closely monitor weather reports as the province is still at risk for flash floods as the Mekkhala tropical storm is affecting the country.
