Thailand: 100,000 tons of rice to be distributed to 10 provinces

The Deputy Permanent Secretary for Justice, Mr. Thongtong Chantarangsu (? ??), says the first lot of 100,000 tons of rice, pricing at 120 baht per pack, will be distributed to 10 provinces of Thailand on May 22nd, in an effort to alleviate the current rice price crisis. He says the next lot will depend on the consumers' demand.

Besides the 10 provinces, Mr. Thongtong says 73,000 rice packs will be on sale in four workplaces in Bangkok, including the Ministry of Commerce, the State Warehouse on Ratchaburana Road, the Department of Export Promotion and the Market Organization for Farmers.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary for Justice says each consumer can only buy three rice packs at a time. He says they will be distributed in the provinces of Chiang Rai, Phitsanulok, Udon Thani, Nakhon Ratchasima, Surat Thani, Songkhla, Ratchaburi, Lop Buri and Samut Prakan.
