BANGKOK, 27 January 2012 (NNT) –Mr. Pinchai Pinkaew, Director of the Office of Welfare Promotion, Protection and Empowerment of Vulnerable Groups (OPP), chaired a workshop to mobilize youth power in the development of the central region of the country.

The workshop is designed to explain this year’s operational direction of the Children and Youths Council to its members which comprise youth representatives at district and provincial levels from the central region. As Thailand had recently been flooded in many areas, the OPP this year encourages the youth council to have a role in flood rehabilitation. Mr. Pinchai said the participants in the workshop will be encouraged to volunteer in helping rehabilitate people who have been affected by floods, as well as promoting the latter's quality and security of life.

Taking part in the workshop are 384 representatives from district- and provincial-level youth councils, provincial officials of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and members of the Local Administrative Organizations in central provinces.
