Suthep: Flooding down south had eased

BANGKOK, 10 April 2011 (NNT)- Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs, Suthep Thaugsuban states that the recovery of southern provinces and the estimations of damages can be completed within 1-2 days

Before making another trip to Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Mr. Suthep revealed that the majority of southern provinces had recovered from its devastating states. Only a few districts of Surat Thani province remain unsettled due to the overflowing Tapi River.

All sectors had co-operated to reconstruct bridges and roads and are fully operational in 4-5 places. However the areas close to the major rivers remain inundated . Temporary housing include 60 houses and 100 tents, are available for those left homeless. However permanent residences in Krabi province remain pending. Donations for construction materials and equipment are estimated at 145 million baht. The military will assist with the reconstruction which will be finished within 3 months.

Mr. Suthep also said he had consulted with all sectors for damage estimations. The total number of damaged houses in Nakhon Si Thammarat province are also to be revealed within 1-2 days.
