NARATHIWAT, 27 February 2013 (NNT) – The Meteorological Department has warned residents of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat provinces against dangers from the heavy downpours during this period.
Water inundates several spots, mostly rolling plains, in 7 districts in Narathiwat province. Flash runoffs have contributed to much of the inundation.
In Yala province, rolling plains and areas adjacent to rivers continue to be flooded. At least 200 families in Ban Thung Riang in Yupo sub-district, Mueang district, add to the latest households in the province to become flood-afflicted. The local school also had to suspend classes.
In Phatthalung province, 1-meter high floodwaters from Kong-ra and Sinakharin districts moved into 11 more villages in Mueang district. Officials were helping the newly affected locals move their belongings to higher ground.
