Rescue, recovery missions underway in 30 storm-hit provinces

BANGKOK, 28 April 2018 (NNT) – Thirty provinces have been recently affected by thunderstorms while rescue and recovery missions are currently underway, said Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Director-General Chayapol Titisak.

He revealed 375 villages in the 30 provinces have been affected by the thunderstorms during 23-28 April 2018, affecting 7,364 villagers with one reported fatality.

He said the DDPM has been working with local authorities and the military to provide initial help to the storm victims, deliver relief items, distribute repair materials, and conduct a damage surveys in order to provide compensation according to the Ministry of Finance’s protocol.
