PHATTHALUNG, 6 February 2017 (NNT) - Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Omsin Cheewapruek visited Phatthalung and Trang provinces to observe the flood situation and presented a natural disaster prevention policy to provincial authorities.
The minister was briefed on the damage caused by the floods in a meeting with Phatthalung authorities to whom he presented a disaster assistance guideline. Among the attendees were provincial governor Wanchai Kongkasem and other local civil servants.
More than 45,000 families in 11 districts of Phatthalung have been affected by the deluge. However, only communities surrounding Thale Noi Lake remain inundated. Omsin and his entourage later visited Khaun Khanun district to hand out relief bags to the flood victims including monks at Wat Lo. Families of those killed in the floods also received money from the Minister.
Omsin and his team then traveled to Trang province to present money to monks at Wat Kaphang Surin and Wat Prasitchai. The money will be used to repair the two monasteries.
