BANGKOK, 10 April 2011 (NNT)-Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said in his regular television program, Confidence in Thailand with PM Abhisit that every flood affected family would receive 5,000 baht grant aid after Songkran Festival while the flood relief budget was estimated to amount to 3 billion baht.

Names of flood victims will be verified by the officials to make sure no one is trying to take advantage of the government's aid fund to help people who have truly been hit by the natural disaster. Money will be given to those affected by mudslides, storms or those whose houses have been inundated over a long period of time.

The Prime Minister said the money for victims of the previous flood had been delayed as there were about ten thousands of submitted names of those who falsely claimed as flood victims while the authority cited the need to verify their situation.
