The Foreign Minister received contribution for tsunami victims from the Ambassador of India to Thailand

On 30 May, 2005 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Kantathi Suphamongkhon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Mr. Vivek Katju, Ambassdor of India to Thailand, to receive the donation of US$ 500,000.- from the Government of India to the Government of Thailand as a contribution to rehabilitation projects for areas in the Southern Thailand that were affected by the Tsunami calamity of 26 December 2004.

During the meeting, the Indian Ambassador informed the Minister that India was ready to extend a warm welcome to Prime Minsiter Thaksin Shinawatra on his upcoming official visit to India on 3 June. The Minister remarked that Thai-Indian bilateral relations has moved substantially forward during the last 4 years. There has been great progress in the Thai-Indian FTA negociating process, and Thailand hopes to see even more progress in other aspects, such as cooperation on commercial aviation and tourism.
