Flood victims in Bangkok urged to register for compensation soon

BANGKOK, 9 January 2012 (NNT) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is urging the remaining flood victims in Bangkok of more than 450,000 people to quickly apply for the 5,000-baht relief money.

Advisor to the Bangkok Governor Sanya Jantarat said the distribution of the flood compensation worth 5,000 baht per household has been made with significant progress during the first round in 30 districts across Bangkok.

He added, however, that only about 179,000 recipients have turned up to claim their flood aid money out of the total number of 602,214. Therefore, flood victims who have not received the money are encouraged to register at the district office as soon as possible.
